About Us
InterHigh | A Youth Ministry in Every Church
Our desire is to serve local churches (without a youth pastor) and to provide a weekly Sunday youth program.
Our mission is to partner with kingdom-minded churches to love the youth with the gospel of Jesus and to raise them up to be the next generation of Gospel-advancing leaders.
Some of us grew up in small immigrant churches that did not have the resources to run a youth group (in English). As a result, we missed out on having Christian mentors who could bridge that language gap to teach us God’s word.
In 2009, a group of UC Berkeley alumni with a heart for the next generation set out to try to meet that need. Small teams fanned out to serve churches across the Bay Area (those without a youth pastor) to put on a youth program each Sunday. Since then, we have expanded our ministry to many cities across the nation.
History
Harvest is Plentiful…
The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few [Matt 9:37]. This is the reality that we have come to grasp and see in our cities, ministries, in our culture and in recent statistics [The Barna Report]. We partner with Area Youth Ministry (AYM), Dare 2 Share, Word of Life, and many other Gospel-advancing organizations to put on events, apologetics conferences, summer camps and retreats, etc. to reach students with the Good News of Jesus. It would be a privilege to co-labor with you for the greatest Cause in the Gospel and reaching the next generation for Christ.
We are a group of covocational ministers (college students & recent alumni) who have a heart for the next generation and are committed to seeing a youth ministry in every church. By day, our InterHigh staff are college students or working professionals at companies such as Apple, Google, and Salesforce. But in the evenings and weekends, we get to live out our true passion: teaching the youth about Jesus. On any given Sunday, you can find us in small churches across the U.S. preaching the gospel, leading worship, playing basketball or volleyball, and mentoring youth.
Our Staff
Pastors & Churches
InterHigh is not a church. We serve churches. InterHigh youth leaders attend their own church, but afterwards, volunteer to serve churches (with a small team of friends) without a youth ministry. We believe that the local church (the body of Christ) and the Gospel is the hope of the world.
InterHigh Youth Ministry is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, a para-church ministry (like YWAM, CruHS, Youth for Christ, YoungLife) and we partner with Kingdom-minded churches to reach the next generation with the gospel. We do NOT endorse or invite students to any particular church except their own.
We take safety very seriously. InterHigh staff go through background checks, screening, and we require references in order to be accepted as a mentor. In addition, our mentors undergo annual safety and compliance training before doing any work that involves minors. We have a “2-Adult Rule” when meeting with minors, and in-person meetings take place in open, public spaces.
